The Reading Tub, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting reading and literacy.

Our mission: Encourage reading and promote literacy where it matters most: in our families.

Reading is a public commodity. It is a skill that must be mastered and is essential to every child’s development and ultimate success as an adult. By making all our information available for free, the Reading Tub is accessible to anyone who wants to read with a child. There are no books to purchase (you can borrow them at the library); there are links to other organizations that are similarly focused; and, most importantly, there are no subscription costs or fees for the information.

Since March 2004, the Reading Tub, Inc. has been partnered with Be the Star You Are!™, a non-profit organization that uses literacy to empower teens at risk. The Reading Tub, Inc. locates books and sends them to the Teen STAR Book Review Team. In turn, the team reads the books and writes the profiles. Our hope for 2005 is that grants and private donations will allow us to triple our community-outreach partnerships.

This money is crucial to allowing us to expand our capabilities, to include hiring staff (we're all volunteers right now) and launching a media campaign.

We appreciate the donations that authors and publishers have sent us, as these fees allow us to defray some of the day-to-day costs of running the site.
