Summary: Little spider's favorite thing is the rainbow that is reflected on his web each morning. When he discovers that by eating berries he can spin his own rainbow, he is most excited. That is, until the insects stop getting caught in his web. This is a picture book with lessons for being one's self, as well as understanding how nature works.

Little Kid Reaction: Our kindergartner liked the story and loved the CD even more.
Big Kid Reaction: The story is a familiar one. Still, it is presented nicely with simple reading and illustrations that complement the theme exactly. The CD is chock full of information related to spiders. We learned a lot, too.
Pros: The story has life lessons AND educational value. Parents will find the CD a good resource for educating kids about spiders. It's a nice counter-effort to the "yuck" and "eeks" that you normally here.
Cons: None.
Borrow or Buy: Buy! This is a book with long-term value for pre-readers through mid-grade elementary school students. We can envision any number of science projects heading our way.
Educational Themes: This book/CD set is multi-dimensional. You can focus on the moral of the story, or truly expand the value for science lessons (spiders, nature, rainbows).
