Summary: With words and illustrations, the author shows us how we are neglecting the environment. She also offers ideas on ways we can change it or make a difference are shown at the end of the story. This is a rhyming picture book about conservation and protecting the earth.

Little Kid Reaction: This book got a mixed reaction. She did not love it, but she did not hate it, either. My daughter enjoyed the pictures, but got frustrated with the text.
Big Kid Reaction: I agree with my daughter, the book was OK. It is not the best book on saving the planet, but it did show that we neglect our earth more than we should. I thought she might enjoy it because of the rhymes, but it just wasn’t always at her level. In some places, the rhyming is forced. In an effort to make the text rhyme, the author used words that were hard to understand or words a child might have to look up in the dictionary.
Pros: In addition to learning about the problems we have, kids also get solutions to helping protect the earth.
Cons: The author tried too hard to make the rhyming mean something. It is a little heavy for children to read and enjoy.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow. The book has a good message, but it isn't the strongest of the stories out there.
Educational Themes: There are lessons about being wasteful and also solutions on how to conserve energy and protect the earth. Use this book as a discussion starter to get kids thinking about what they see, what they do (now), and what they can do (better).
