Little Kid Reaction: My son liked the book "okay," and liked identifying some of the more familiar objects and a few of the letters in the beginning. He lost interest about halfway through. That is typical of most of the alphabet books I've read to him so far, but he didn't want to read this one again. I thought he would enjoy it more because it is so colorful and filled with cute pictures.
Big Kid Reaction: This is a colorful, fun book. Given some of the word choices (candyfloss for cotton candy), it was evidently written in England. Parents can easily alter MOST of the names to US vernacular when sharing with a non-reader. I think the real learning value for this book will come when he is a little older and is more experienced in identifying letters.
Pros: The is an excellent choice of fun, recognizable objects. Kids will love the bright colors.
Cons: Not all letters were treated equally. "C" and "S" took up two pages, while "T" and "U" and several other pairs were crammed two letters onto a single page.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow. This is a book that will be short-lived in our evolving library.
Educational Themes: This is a fun, colorful way to learn letters in a preschool or Kindergarten classroom.
