Little Kid Reaction: As we closed the book on the first reading, our preschooler announced "Read it again, Mama." We've since read it a number of times, each one a little slower, as s/he begins to study the illustrations in more detail.
Big Kid Reaction: The story is really just a sequence of sentences counting out how many bees and what they do. The illustrations make the book.
Pros: The illustrations are beautiful, the bees are cute, and the pages are sturdy and will withstand frequent readings.
Cons: None, really. For parents, it would be fun to have a little more story or lead-ins for creating interactive reading.
Borrow or Buy: Buy if you want to have a nice, art-quality counting book for your child's library. This is one to have. Borrow if you are just looking to introduce numbers in a fun way.
