Summary: Opus is hunting for the world's last basselope, a creature so fierce, so mean, that in olden times "the mere sight of one of them in a dinosaur neighborhood would inspire rip-snorting dinosaur pandemonium lasting for weeks." This is a story of discovery and misunderstanding.

Little Kid Reaction: They thought it was funny to see how scared everyone was of the basselope until they meet him and find out he's very friendly and just wants to eat dandelions, not Fearless Explorers like Opus.
Big Kid Reaction: If you remember Opus and Bloom County and the basselope, Rosebud, this is for you. It will takes you back twenty years.
Pros: Breathed does a fantastic job with the artwork, and the story is exquisite too.
Cons: Not a darn thing. There's everything to love about this book. There's even a real photograph of the basselope on the back cover.
Borrow or Buy: Buy, and then buy it for your friends. They will love you and everyone can share a laugh together.
Educational Themes: On it's surface it is just a fun book to read together and laugh out loud. Without too much of a stretch, you can teach kids about what happens when creatures misunderstand each other.
