Summary: All of us--even our pets--have courage. It shows itself in the everyday things we do (like sleeping without a nightlight) or in more heroic ways, like being a firefighter or policeman. This is a nice reminder that we all have the courage within us to be heroes: big and small.

Age of Child: read at 23 months
Little Kid Reaction: Three pages and s/he was done.
Big Kid Reaction: This is a nice, albeit somewhat repetitive read. It isn't until you get to the firefighter & policeman that we had that post-9/11 'aha' moment.
Pros: Almost all of the things that highlight courage a child can understand, or empathize with the family dog! The events, activities, choices are all great reminders that we all have a little hero in us.
Cons: The litany of "courage is…" can get cumbersome after 15 pages.
Borrow or Buy: Based on the reaction, we'll continue to periodically borrow it. That said, it might make a nice gift for the timid younsger in your life.
