Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, read aloud book
Recommended Age: read together: 2 to 6; read yourself: 5 to 8
Interest Level: 2 to 8
Age of Child: Read with a 2-year-old boy.
Little Kid Reaction: I picked this book to share with my son. He liked seeing the cute illustrations of the activities the little boy did all day. He laughed and got up and walked around like the little boy in the book was doing.
Big Kid Reaction: I liked the simplicity of the story and how all of the activity in the picture keeps a young child's attention. The rhyming words also help keep the audience's attention. It is also a good example of exactly what little boys do all day! I wasn’t sure he understood everything I was reading, but he understood the main action words. It was fun to see him act those out.
Pros: Young boys will easily see themselves in this easy-to-read, well illustrated story.
Cons: None.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. This is a great book for little boys and you're likely to share it over and over ... for as long as your son sees himself in the story. Libraries will likely have this book to borrow.
Educational Themes: This book has an excellent rhyming scheme and lots of action words that are great for a toddler/preschooler's vocabulary development.
