Type of Reading: family reading, anytime reading, playtime reading, read aloud book

Interest Level: 3 to 6
Age of Child: Read with a 5-year-old girl.
Little Kid Reaction: My daughter picked out this book because it is pink. As we read it, she liked it because the party was pink, too. She commented on how the family was helping Posey plan her party. She thought that was great that her parents would take the time to help her.
Big Kid Reaction: I enjoyed the fun story of a little girl planning a party and wanting everything to either be pink or start with the letter p. A themed party for a young child is no different than what we adults do sometimes. They are fun! It was fun to see her enjoy it so much. I was hopeful she would like it and thrilled she liked it as much as she did
Pros: This is a fun story, and every girl who likes the pink will love the idea of her themed party.
Cons: I am not sure a young boy would enjoy this book as it is all about the color pink and a tea party for stuffed animals.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. Little girls will love this book, and you're very likely to find it in the library.
Educational Themes: Although this is meant to be a book for fun reading, there are lessons you can pull out. First, the idea of helping others, even if you don't like the same thing. Also, liking a certain color doesn't make you right or wrong.
