Summary: Police officers have busy days. This is the story of one police officer. He helps with traffic control when the lights go out and even help when a boy is lost in the city park. This is a rhyming picture book that also would be a great early reader.

Type of Reading: family reading, anytime reading, playtime reading, read aloud book, learning to read

Recommended Age: read together: 2 to 5; read yourself: 4 to 6

Interest Level: 2 to 6

Age of Child: Read by a 5-year-old girl.

Little Kid Reaction: My daughter liked reading about what police do all day. She said it was easy to read and understand. She picked it because she read that it had rhyming text and that made her want to open it and read more. She laughed and stopped to look at the pictures. You could tell she was really enjoying the story.

Big Kid Reaction: I liked the story being a positive look at police and what they can do to help us. The illustrations are beautiful and the text is easy to understand and read. I thought it would bore her to look at a book about police and was pleasantly surprised that she liked it so much.

Pros: Kids and parents will enjoy this great story about police and how they can help. It is written in with fun, rhyming text.

Cons: None.

Borrow or Buy: Buy. I would buy this book for any child. Libraries will most definitely want to have a copy.

If You Liked This Book, Try: MICHAEL RECYCLE , TITO, THE FIREFIGHTER TITO, EL BOMBERO

Educational Themes: Kids learn about community helpers from preschool through first grade. This is a nice complement to those lessons and the rhyme will help them remember what police do.
