Summary: It can't be night-time. There is still so much to do. A young girl pulls back the sky to lengthen the day and have more time for her favorite things. Little Kid Reaction: I had to slow down my reading so that my daughter could explore the illustrations ... from the tiny fish jumping out of the water, to the expressions on the moon's face. She tried to read the Spanish, too. When we finished the book, she exclaimed "I liked that one."
Big Kid Reaction: I knew she'd like it, so despite the initial protests, I kept reading. This is the first bilingual book in a long time where she let me read the Spanish and English. She liked the sound of the words ... and poetry in Spanish is particularly beautiful. I loved the book and the illustrations. This is a perfect bedtime book.
Pros: This poem answers a child's persistent questions about why we have to sleep at night. Beautiful illustrations and simple vocabulary make it an exceptional choice for first and second grade readers, including ESL students.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. It is a beatiful, soothing poem. It can help kids understand why we have night ... and why they need to go to sleep!
