Summary: As a granddaughter asks questions, her grandmother explains how she will still be able to find her grandmother in her life. She tells her that the angels are going to come take her away but that she will always be right there in her granddaughter’s heart. The grandchild will ask a question that the grandmother then answers. This is a picture book that uses poetry to help explain death to children.

Little Kid Reaction: Although my daughter liked how the story explained the fun things the grandmother and granddaughter did together, she found it hard to connect the poem to the illustrations. She learned that just because someone dies it does not mean you will lose them forever because you have your memories of your times together.
Big Kid Reaction: I was surprised that my daughter didn't like this book more. It may have been because she found the pictures hard to figure out. I liked both the rhyming pattern and how it offered positive examples of a grandmother-grandchild relationship.
Pros: This is a story that everyone can enjoy. The Question/Answer format works well and uses themes kids are likely to think up themselves. It reminds us of the positive influences a grandparent can have on a child.
Cons: The illustrations didn't complement the poem very well. It wasn't easy to understand the reason for the book or the theme of it; we weren't sure where it was going.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow. This is a colorful book and your child may recall their own memories in reading this book together.
Educational Themes: This is, at its core, a book about relationships and celebrating family. The poem offers a gentle way of introducing kids to and talking about death.
