Summary: A baby sea turtle takes the wrong turn and ends up in the woods instead of on the beach. Little Kid Reaction: My daughter thought it was cute how the other animals were trying to help turtle find a place to live by showing how they lived. She laughed at the end and said she enjoyed the book because it ended happy

Big Kid Reaction: This is a fun, quick read. I like that you can explore the book beyond the words, because each page gives you the opportunity to talk about what you see, too.

Pros: Rhyming words make fast reading of this book that offers lots of facts about nature wrapped in a story.

Cons: None.

Borrow or Buy: Buy! This has value both for nonfiction reading about animals and nature, as well as a fictional animal story.

Educational Themes: There is a lot to share with this story. First, you have the character themes of friendship and helping others. You have plenty to contrast and compare on the different living habitats of the animals, too. Like all Sylvan Dell books, there are activities on the last page that can expand the learning.
