Little Kid Reaction: My daughter enjoyed the pictures and liked hearing about the different kinds of wolves. As we were reading, she had me stop so we could concentrate on each page until she felt like she really knew all about that particular wolf activity. She also liked that they lived in families just like us.
Big Kid Reaction: This book has beautiful photography! It is a fascinating book, and I learned a lot: wolves babysit each others' cubs; and help out by bringing food to each other. I was surprised that my daughter was so interested. Clearly, the author did a great job keeping the readers' attention. He left us wanting to learn more.
Pros: This book is an easy-to-read, informative book about wolves. The spectacular photographs of different kinds of wolves in different activities makes this book worth reading again and again.
Cons: This isn't a story that features wolves, but a book filled with pictures and information. If your child is interested in animals, this is a good choice, but if you're looking for a story, this won't fit.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. The photography alone is worth looking at. If your child loves wolves or really wants to learn about them and study them then buy the book. This is a must-have for your local library.
