Big Kid Reaction: When one has the resources of the National Gallery and Walt Disney Inc. to assist a team of experts in developing a guidebook for fine arts, the expected response from the critics would be “that’s a piece of cake.” When the critics open the cover and realize what a gem they hold in their hand there’s an entirely different response. This book is special.
Pros: This guide book is itself a work of art and will adorn coffee tables and library shelves of art lovers everywhere.
Cons: None. This is a flawless piece of work.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. This is a primer on painting that anyone who likes pictures and drawings will find enjoyable and informative. Don’t let the presence of Mickey Mouse or Goofy distract you. This is a serious guidebook on painting which the reader/artist will relish and appreciate.
Educational Themes: Looking At Paintings is an informative guidebook for those interested in fine art. It is likely, that if you are an artist, you are already familiar with the book. The pooling of resources and talents of a major museum and a respected media corporation have produced an excellent resource for anyone interested in serious painting.
