Summary: Yurchyk is the youngest child in his family. He has only one wish: he wants to be big so he can play with his family. When he asks his dad how to get bigger, his father says that he must DO something big. So he builds a mountain of books. Then he climbs an apple tree. Still not enough. When a goose bites his dog, Yurchyk tries to scare him aay. Is he big enough? Kids who are the youngest in their family will relate to Yurchyk in this story.

Little Kid Reaction: I picked the book because it looked like a good story. I liked how the little boy saved his dog. This has a good lesson: you don't have to be tall to do big things.
Big Kid Reaction: This is a sweet story that all little kids will relate to. Even those without bigger siblings want to do the things their parents do sometimes. The illustrations are well done and complement the story nicely.
Pros: Sweet pictures and a little hero will encourage kids to think big.
Cons: Yurchyk isn't an easy name. You may want to substitute your own name when reading this.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow. This is a sweet story and it will come in handy on those days kids are feeling "little," but after six this book won't work anymore.
Educational Themes: The story makes it easy to talk about feelings. Yurchyk came up with some of his own ideas about what being big means and how to do it ... let your child do the same.
