Summary: A young kangaroo (joey) asks his mommy why she doesn't say "I love you" every second of the day. She proceeds to list for him all the ways she shows him she loves him (holding his hand as they cross the street, etc.). This is an illustrated story that answer's a childs questions about a mother's love.

Recommended Age: read together: 2 to 8; read yourself: 7 to 9
Interest Level: 2 to 7
Age of Child: Read with children 2 and 4 years old.
Little Kid Reaction: The boys enjoyed this book. It seeded a discussion about things we do to show our love for each other. It also reinforced that Mommy loves them.
Big Kid Reaction: I love any book that ends with my son hugging me! I certainly feel that this book reinforces for a child just how much parents love them, and it also gives parents some credibility with their kids: they might appreciate the little things a little more.
Pros: This book has a super message. Every child needs to hear this message comes with an extra dose of hugs.
Cons: The illustrations, while very cute and meticulously executed, are not "frameable" given the story. This is VERY minor.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow or buy. This is cute to check out of the library, but I could see some parents/grandparents would enjoy buying it for a child in their life. I wouldn't buy this for a friend, but it is a borderline decision.
Educational Themes: The message in this book is "I love you." It is probably best suited asn an "at home" book to be read with parents, grandparents, and other caregivers. It isn't well suited for a school setting.
