Little Kid Reaction: An IMMEDIATE hit. S/He kept wanting to re-read the story and go back to see individual characters…especially the spider "plump as a pig."
Big Kid Reaction: An enjoyable story with incredibly cute illustrations. It didn't take too many readings before we started getting hugs every time we got to the last page. Although this was advertised as an 'adoption story,' it's a wonderful read for anyone. It was most helpful as our toddler is going through her 'monster' phase and we could show how parents are here to protect you.
Pros: TERRIFIC story. The card stock is a nice balance between board books and regular paper.The pages hold up well with the near constant requests to go back and forth among the characters.
Cons: None.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. It's a sweet story. Even though the spider is a girl, boys will like the illustrations--they're all insects after all.
Educational Themes: Without having to get into lots of explanation, it's easy for young readers to see that the love is very special bond. Those who love us protect and want to take care of us.
