Little Kid Reaction: I loved the book. It started slow and uneventful, but at the sixth chapter it started to pick up the pace. I liked that it had all different genres at points. Sometimes it was suspenseful, sometimes mysterious, and all of it exciting and adventurous. I was very surprised about VonMacht's mother.

Big Kid Reaction: Like all Avi books, this is a great book to read.

Pros: Kids will enjoy the suspense and real-life details in this fictional novel.

Cons: It is easy to read, but there were some troublesome concepts (e.g., violence, murder).

Borrow or Buy: Buy! This is such a good book, and I would read it again. It is so good that it would probably be checked out from the public library.

If You Liked This Book, Try: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee; Tunnels byRoderick Gordon; House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer THE APPARITION TRAIL , GHOSTS OF WHITNER , MYSTERIOUS THRILLS AND CHILLS
