Little Kid Reaction: Our daughter offered the requisite "oh's" and "aw's" of a sympathetic listener. She liked the story and the mud castle contest!
Big Kid Reaction: This is a great story for both children and parents. It gently reminds parents that drugs aren't the first-line solution for earaches, and teaches kids the same thing. Tying the earache to something that was personally meaningful to Eddie will resonate with kids.
Pros: This is a story that every parent and child will appreciate. Rare is the child who hasn't suffered not one earache. The Parent's Guide in the back is a HUGE bonus!
Cons: Absolutely None. I hope there are more stories like this.
Borrow or Buy: Buy! We suggest buying two, because it is the perfect baby shower gift or a present for a new mom. This story will be read LOTS of times, and will be "comfort food" for the child who regularly has earaches.
Educational Themes: This is a story with educational value for EVERYONE in the family. There is medical information about earaches, guidance on how to treat an earache, and a story to help while you ride out the fever and pain.
