Summary: Baby Will is a happy baby. Every day, Will's brothers and sisters doted on him and took turns helping Mommy and Daddy. Sally, the oldest, taught her brothers and sisters how to blow flying kisses, because they made Will smile. Then, one morning, Daddy couldn't get Will to wake up. It was a very sad day, and the children had lots of questions about what was happening. As the family worked through their sadness, they found a way that they can still share their love with baby Will in Heaven. Big Kid Reaction: This is a very tender story that introduces loss, grief, and sadness to children who have no sense of these emotions. The author does an outstanding job offering explanations that answer the children's questions, but without overplaying their ability to understand.
Pros: This book is good for anyone who is directly dealing with the loss of a child to SIDS, or for friends/family who need to find a way to explain this to their kids, too.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. If you are around families with young children, even if you don't know of a SIDS loss, this is a must-read. It will prepare you for answering questions about death and loss in other contexts, too. This would be a thoughtful, sensitive gift for a family suffering with the loss of a child.
Educational Themes: This story and its complementary activity book are designed to offer compassion, empathy, and explanation to families who have lost a child or sibling to SIDS. The activity book helps children work through the stages of grief in ways that show them that it is Okay to be happy.
