Which came first: Cheryl's passion for science or her passion for writing children's books. The answer is "all of the above." Cheryl created Block Publishing with one goal: produce materials that draw out a child's natural curiosity about the world around them.

Cheryl's journey to becoming an author and publisher began as a teacher. After receiving her Master's degree in Special Education, she taught special needs children for twelve years. When she began teaching primary science, she learned that science opened doors to all types of learning. The kids loved science, and she could have them read, write, and solve problems.

After leaving the classroom, Cheryl became an editor, author, and director of production for The Critical Thinking Company for ten years, and wrote and edited several products, including Think Analogies, Can You Find Me, Reading Detective, and Editor in Chief.

For the last the ten years, Cheryl has been a docent at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. She also helps in her daughter's kindergarten class. Like her mom, Cheryl's daughter is also a teacher.

Cheryl lives in Pacific Grove, California.
