We have selected two literacy projects for 2009. The projects reflect our commitment to helping kids learn--and love--to read, as well as working directly in our communities to make a difference. When we reach 50% funding, we will be able to launch the operational plan associated with each project. When donating to the Reading Tub, you can make a general donation or specify a project where you'd like your money to go.

Read it Together!

A child’s attitude toward reading is crucial to his/her success as an independent reader. Reading together and spending time practicing this skill are also important to the process. With just fifteen minutes a day—the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee—parents can significantly improve their child’s readiness for reading and, ultimately, overall success in school.

Read it Together! is a project that creates a reading partnership between parent and child. It pairs a book with a Reading Guide so that families can bring reading home, together. Click here to learn more.

Use Your ABCs

Literacy is more than just recognizing letters and words. It is the ability to understand the information that we are reading. When we can't read, there is a ripple effect on every other part of our life. The Use Your ABCs project gives kids the chance to practice their reading skills and use their comprehension and writing skills to help other kids.

This is a community-oriented partner program between the Reading Tub, Inc. and participating organizations. Eligible organizations must be non-profits who are working directly with kids who struggle to read or are at-risk for failing reading benchmarks. Click here to learn more.
