Publisher: Orca Books,

Material: board book

Summary: A sweet poem welcomes a newborn into the world. The poem emphasizes how important the baby is and the wonderful impact the baby will have on their lives and on the world. This is a photo-illustrated lullaby for infants.

Type of Reading: bedtime story, playtime reading, read aloud book

Recommended Age: read together: 0 to 4; read yourself: 6 to 8

Interest Level: 0 to 3

Reading Level: 1.6

Age of Child: Read with two boys, one year old and three years old.

Young Reader Reaction: My 3-year-old was intrigued by the pictures of the babies. He made observations about the babies, such as the "similarity" between the twins. My 1-year-old lost interest.

Adult Reader Reaction: I felt that this would have "read" better if it had actually been a song with a melody. As it was, it was repetitive and a little "new age."

Pros: This book has a positive message: you are IMPORTANT in this world and you make a difference.

Cons: The poem was a little mush.
