Summary: Teddy bears are the stars in these poems about all of the different situations they get themselves into. The cute illustrations help you imagine the bears being alive and actually saying these funny things. Some poems are longer than others, but you fall in love with each bear as you learn a little about their personality. This is a collection of rhyming poems about stuffed bears. The poems are read on a CD that comes with the book.

Young Reader Reaction: My daughter enjoyed the different poems and the CD that came with the book. She actually preferred to read them over listening to them. She liked how each poem was distinct. She laughed at some of the poems and really enjoyed the pictures, adding that they looked like real stuffed bears you would buy. That said, I think she just got tired of the rhyming after a few of them.
Adult Reader Reaction: I didn’t think I would enjoy the book but I did! I liked the rhyming and the poems themselves. I also liked how each bear covered a different subject. Some were sad but all of them gave you something to talk about and think about. Although my daughter wanted to read the poems, I am sure others would enjoy the CD just as much as reading.
Pros: Good illustrations and humorous descriptions engage kids in enjoying poetry.
Cons: I would not try to read it all in one sitting. Read it over a couple days and you will enjoy it better.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. This is a definite must-have for school and public libraries. It offers poetry in a way that is engaging for kids.
Educational Themes: These poems offer a light-hearted way to show that everyone goes through difficulties. Sometimes it is OK to share you feelings with others so they can help you. Being creative when you are playing with stuffed animals.
Notes: book includes CD Flesch Kincaid reading level 3.5
