Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, playtime reading, read aloud book

Recommended Age: read together: 6 to 9' read yourself: 9 and Up

Young Reader Reaction: Review pending.

Adult Reader Reaction: This is a beautifully illustrated book and I love how it begins with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary, not just the last "leg" of her and Joseph's trip to the Inn. I could not help but think that this is more for collectors than children, though.

Pros: Beautifully detailed illustrations make this a wonderful read-aloud choice for Advent.

Cons: The quality of the book is such that you want to take extra special care of it ... it may appeal more to adult collectors and Sunday school teachers.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow at least. You'll want to see for yourself before deciding whether or not to add it to your personal bookshelf.
