Type of Reading: playtime reading, read aloud book
Recommended Age: read together: 3 to 6; read yourself: 7 to 9
Interest Level: 3 to 6
Reading Level: 2.6
Age of Child: Read with child 2 years old.
Young Reader Reaction: S/He liked touching the pillowy balloons and identifying the colors.
Adult Reader Reaction: It looked like a fun Valentines-y kind of book. After the fourth reading, we were as bored with it as our toddler.
Pros: There's a nice life lesson in the story. The pages are sturdy and the cloth balloons add dimension to the pages.
Cons: Can't imagine too many five- or six-year-olds interested in this one. It doesn't have much shelf life.
Borrow or Buy: Skip it. It's a nice message, but there are other books that won't max you out after three reads.
